The ADC is administered using live video conferencing via Google Meet and the Government Commercial College (GCC) platform.
To complete the ADC you will need:
Laptop or desktop computer, including webcam – due to issues concerning compatibility we do not recommend completing the ADC using mobile or tablet devices. Unfortunately, the ADC team cannot provide a device for you to complete your ADC sitting. If you do not have access to a laptop or desktop computer, please let us know by emailing gcfdevelopmentcentre@cabinetoffice.gov.uk.
Reliable internet connection - you can test your internet connection using a free tester provided by Ookla (linked here). If your internet download speed is below 5Mbps, this may mean you will struggle to access Google Meet or the GCC.
Google Chrome browser - The GCC is best optimised on Google Chrome. While you may use alternative browsers (Safari, Microsoft Edge, Firefox etc), there is no guarantee that they will provide the best user experience. You can test your browser's optimisation by completing our demonstration exercise, instructions for which are included in your ADC Joining Instructions.
We recommend you test each of these requirements before your ADC date, to ensure you’re fully prepared for the day.
Some government-issued devices contain software that prevent access to certain programmes (i.e Google Meet). You should check with your department’s IT service to make sure you are able to access all required areas of the ADC.
If you are unsure whether your equipment or access to Google Meet / GCC will work, a member of our team is more than happy to arrange an access test with you. If you are interested, please contact us by emailing gcfdevelopmentcentre@cabinetoffice.gov.uk.
