Political Insight – Political Insight involves considering the motives, objectives and positions of key stakeholders in order to equip you with the tools to better understand ‘the agenda behind the agenda’. Political Insight allows you to anticipate likely lines of argument, work with conflicting interests and present technical issues to stakeholders that helps to align discussions with desired long-term outcomes.
Another aspect to Political Insight is having an awareness about your and your team’s strengths & preferred engagement styles & how these may impact on perceptions & judgements, especially in pressured environments and situations.
The Spotlight On session covers:
Situations and how to handle them
Understanding the perspective of others
An overview of what good looks like for the Political Insight attribute at the ADC
Please note this session is not designed to cover the use of political insight to influence across or within Government or working with officials, for example Ministers.
